MORE WARMTH: The quiet pattern continues for West Texas. After a high of 95 yesterday in Lubbock it'll be about the same today, near 94 with lots of sunshine. The average high today is 79. There is more moisture off of the Caprock, which will keep the temp down by just a few degrees. The offset will be it'll feel muggy and warmer. The wind will be somewhat gusty, SW/S 10-20mph.

Tonight will drop to near 60, the wind a little stronger tomorrow...high near 92, SW wind 12-22mph.

NEXT FRONT: An upper-level storm system now over the NW United States will move east and push a cold front across our area Friday. Right now it looks like the front will move through during the afternoon, which means most of our area can warm quickly...we might even hit 90 Friday in Lubbock. It'll likely be cooler across our northern communities Friday afternoon.

There isn't much  moisture ahead of this front. We could see an isolated shower somewhere southeast of Lubbock, but the chance doesn't look good. The north wind will kick up around 20-30mph Friday evening, with some higher gusts. It'll be windy and getting chilly for the football games.

The weekend will be cooler, with mornings close to 40 Saturday and Sunday. It may get as cool as mid 30s up around Muleshoe, Bovina and Friona, if the wind drops off enough. Afternoons will be great this weekend, with lots of sunshine. It'll turn warmer to begin next week.

Have a great day. Rudy will have an update on the forecast later today.
