SOME MORNING RAIN: We've got isolated showers developing northeast and southeast of Lubbock, along with clouds increasing across the area. We've also had an isolated storm northwest of Lubbock...at 6 a.m. near Bovina. All the rain out there this morning is drifting from southeast to northwest. Most of it is light but at least a little rain is better than no rain. It's a sign that there is some lift, which will help develop more isolated to scattered showers and storms this morning.

TODAY: There is a little bit of upper-level energy sliding across the region, which will support isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms again today. In typical summertime pattern there will be many locations that miss out. Today's high in Lubbock near 96, wind S 10-20mph. Today and next few days the moisture content in the atmosphere will be increasing, which will support better rainfall rates. There could also be some gusty wind from these storms.

RAIN TOTALS: An example of what isolated storms can do with good moisture content is the 24-hour rain total at the Texas Tech Mesonet site near Lake Alan Henry, 1.70". Here are other readings:

 GUTHRIE          1.38 IN
 SNYDER           0.62 IN
 ROARING SPRINGS  0.23 IN
 PLAINVIEW        0.21 IN
 GRAHAM           0.19 IN
 FLOYDADA         0.06 IN
 NORTHFIELD       0.04 IN
 TATUM            0.03 IN
 SPUR             0.01 IN
 DENVER CITY      0.01 IN

NEXT FEW DAYS: We'll maintain a slight chance for storms tomorrow. The overall pattern doesn't change much. High again close to 96 tomorrow, low near 70.

FRONT?: Forecast guidance has shown for a few days a front making it into our area Thursday. It really wouldn't cool us off, since it's not going to clear the area. But if it can get down here it could be another focal point to help produce more storms than today or tomorrow. We'll watch this trend. Fronts usually have a tough time getting this far south in the summer.

WEEKEND: High pressure builds back into the region this weekend, which will decrease the rain potential and increase the temp. It may get close to 100 by Sunday and Monday.

Have a great day! Rudy will have a full update to the forecast later today.
