Highs hovered near 90 today, but it will get even warmer for the end of the weekend, and warmer yet from there. A persistent high pressure will linger above the region through Wednesday, which means the warmth will stick around.

Tomorrow morning, expect a low in the mid 50s and a high in the low to mid 90s. Sunny skies and southwest wind near 15 to 20 mph will only help our temperatures. Monday morning will drop to near 60, and with the sun and southwest wind  continuing, we will get even warmer. Expect a high in the upper 90s to low 100s. Those off the Caprock will be warmest.

With these temperatures 20 to 25 degrees above normal, prepare yourself for this weather. Make sure to hydrate extra and wear sunscreen, especially if you plan on being outside a lot for the end of the weekend.

The low to mid 90s, sun and breeze will remain the expectation for Tuesday and Wednesday. An upper level trough will slowly start to edge the high pressure off to the east, and that could finally bring some changes for the end of the week.

That is when we are expecting a cool down, bringing temperatures back towards average. We could also see a few more clouds and a very slight chance for rain on Thursday morning. This is still very far out, we will watch models to see if they trend more towards rain as it gets closer.

Join us at 6:00 and 9:00 tonight for more weather, news and sports.
