Easter has been beautiful so far, but these nice conditions won't last long. We've got one more warm day in store tomorrow, starting off near 50 and getting up to the low 80s. A cold front will be creeping its way towards us late Monday though, so there could be some storms, especially for our northern counties late Monday afternoon into the overnight hours.

As the cold front moves through the South Plains, the chance for storms will continue. The exact timing of that front is still pretty much completely up in the air. Some models are saying early Tuesday, others are saying Tuesday afternoon.

Depending on how early it gets here, we could only reach the low 40s for a high on Tuesday or as far up as the upper 60s. Right now we are forecasting the low 60s, but it will likely change in the next two days. You can expect we'll have a tight temperature gradient throughout the day Tuesday as the front moves through, colder to the north, warmer to the south.

Models are starting to agree on rain chances with this front though. It will likely start as early as Monday afternoon for our northern counties, with some storms, then build across the area throughout Tuesday. Heaviest totals will probably be Tuesday afternoon. Some of the storms associated with this system could be strong or severe, with strong winds and large hail being the main concern. Rain chances last through Wednesday for most of the area and will likely fall apart west to east throughout Wednesday.

Below is the Weather Prediction Center 72 hour expected precipitation totals.

Wednesday is looking to be a little bit questionable temperature wise, as well. Likely starting off in the mi to upper 30s and only getting up to the low 50s, but because of the cloud cover and northeast winds, we could end up being much cooler than that.

Thursday there is agreement on West Texas starting to warm back up and clearing up, too. Temperatures starting in the upper 30s and warming to the upper 60s in the afternoon with mostly sunny skies. More sun on Friday and even warmer temperatures into the upper 70s and even warmer for the weekend.

I hope you have had a fabulous Easter Sunday!
