Our forecast for this morning has not changed much compared to the last few mornings. A high pressure system will bring mostly clear skies and highs in the upper 90s to low 100s for at least the next six days. Despite the mostly clear skies that are expected, we still have some moisture in the atmosphere, which will keep our mornings mild, lows near 70 this week.
That moisture, combined with our heat will also provide a continued chance for showers and thunderstorms over eastern New Mexico. There is a chance for some of these to push their way into our western and northwestern counties this evening and into the overnight hours.
We have had this same trend over the last few nights, so you can expect a similar outlook looking forward for the next couple of evenings. Besides that, prepare yourself for the heat by drinking a lot of water and wearing sunscreen when outdoors.
It would also be a good idea to protect your pets from the heat by bringing them indoors if possible and refilling their water frequently.
There are hints of a cold front arriving at the stat of next work week, but it is too soon to be sure of the timing and strength of that cold front and if it will bring more rain to the South Plains.
I will be in for Matt on Good Day Lubbock this morning and tomorrow, Matt returns Thursday!
