Temperatures will be a little bit below average over the next couple of days, but still, not too bad. It will be chilly tomorrow morning, a little below 40 and the afternoon won't get past the low to mid 70s. But mostly sunny skies and light winds will mean a pleasant afternoon. Some clouds may move in towards the afternoon.
Monday will begin a little warmer in the mid 40s, but the afternoon will be similar to tomorrow. There is a slight chance for some rain for our southwestern counties, and as that rain moves north and east, it will start to fall apart because it gets drier. Best chances of accumulation will be for the southwest, decreasing as you move east.
A closed off low pressure system near California will start to push its way east towards the start of the work week and it will pull in warm air and moisture to the South Plains as it gets closer. This means a jump into the 50s for morning lows and mid 80s for the afternoons starting on Tuesday.
The combination of moisture and warm air gives us a chance for isolated showers come Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a large amount of uncertainty with this chance because of the nature of the system providing the showers, very isolated. We'll still be relatively dry at the surface during this time so if we do get showers, some may not even hit the ground. But we will keep an eye on these chances in the upcoming days.
Warmth lasts through the work week with partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions at that low pressure system sticks around.
