Some clouds today have kept us a little cooler than expected, especially for our northwestern areas, but temperatures were still pleasant if you don't mind the clouds. The clouds will be in an out of the South Plains through tonight and tomorrow, with periods of sunshine.
With enough sun tomorrow we should get into the low 90s, but with more clouds, we'll top off in the upper 80s. There are hints of rain for our far northern and western counties by tomorrow afternoon, but agreement within models is not consistent and we are expecting them to barely skim our area if at all. that said, not be surprised if your outdoor plans get interrupted by some scattered showers.
Rain chances will only get better by Monday and especially for the middle of the work week. An upper level trough brings a cold front to the South Plains late Monday so storms could skim the area again, but most of us should stay dry with temperatures in the low 90s again.
Once the front moves further south by Tuesday morning and afternoon, our potential for rain only increases, especially early Tuesday morning. We could get a break mid day on Tuesday, and we are likely to see temperatures in the upper 80s with sun peeking out behind some clouds.
Wednesday brings another chance for rain, but it gets complicated by then, with little agreement in models. Some show the front retreating to the northeast and a chance for storms, others are showing a lesser defined front to the south of the city with decreased rain chances.
Beyond Wednesday we will watch the probability for rain, but as of now we could see light showers and some storms as late as Friday before the front finally exits the area. For now, enjoy the mild temperatures and the rest of your weekend.
We will have an early FOX34 News Saturday at 5:00 and the News at Nine after MLB tonight!
