After a cool morning we warmed up quite nicely across the South Plains.

We keep a clear sky and light breeze overnight with morning lows on Friday starting off in the low to mid 30s. Friday’s high temperatures will depend on where you are located thanks to a cold front that will move through during the afternoon and evening. Our northern counties might only warm into the low 50s, with areas around Lubbock warming into the low 60s, and our southern counties upper 60s and low 70s. We will have breezy southwest/westerly winds ahead of the front and once the front moves through winds shift to the north with wind speeds of 10-20mph maybe even 15-25mph for a short time. We will see an increase in clouds with the passage of the front, but unfortunately there will be no rain falling from these clouds. Here's a snapshot of one of our computer models for 4pm Friday.

Clouds stick around through Saturday morning before they slowly start to clear by Saturday afternoon. Saturday will be a cooler day as we only warm to the upper 40s and low 50s. We don’t stay cool for long as we warm right back into the mid 60s by the beginning of the workweek when we will also have a couple of breezy days. Rain prospects remain slim to none over the next 7 days.

I look forward to talking more weather with you tonight on the News at Nine, and Matt will join you tomorrow morning on Good Day Lubbock.
