We are wrapping up another hot day with temperatures about ten degrees above average both this morning and afternoon. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.

We will see similar temperatures over the next couple of days with lows around 70 degrees and afternoon highs in the upper 90s. A cold front will move through late Saturday which will set us up with near or just below average temperatures to start off next week. High pressure will build back in by the middle of next week which will signal a return to mid 90s in the afternoon.

Our storm chances are looking a little better this weekend. First off there is a slight chance for a few storms to the north of Lubbock tomorrow afternoon and evening. While the chance is not great, any storms that do form could become severe. That will actually be the trend for all our storm chances this weekend with the main concerns being strong wind gusts and large hail. The best chance for storms will come late Saturday into early Sunday as a cold front moves through but we could another round of storms move through late Sunday into early Monday. Everything should clear out to the east of us late Monday.

As far as the Texas Tech baseball games are concerned, the first game should go off without a hitch since the first pitch is at Noon and we don’t think any storms will form until Saturday night. The first pitch on Sunday is at 2pm and if a third game is needed the first pitch on Monday will be at Noon. As mentioned above there could be a few storms during those games but the best chance remains to the north of Lubbock and during the evening hours.

I hope you had a great day! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Matt will have a complete updated forecast for you tomorrow morning.
