Rebecca Gotti joined the FOX 34 news team in March 2012. Rebecca is managing editor and reporter for Ag Day Lubbock.
Ag Day Lubbock is the only daily local agriculture newscast of its type in the country. Rebecca’s chief responsibility is highlighting local agriculture happenings to help raise awareness of the importance of agriculture, not only in West Texas, but in the nation and world.
Rebecca was raised in the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches. She grew up raising cattle and showing horses, a passion she still enjoys. She earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Animal Science from Texas Tech University. During her time as a Red Raider, she enjoyed competing on the Texas Tech Horse Judging Team, earning Reserve National titles as a team. She went on to coach the team as a graduate student.
She also showed horses in college in the Stock Horse of Texas Association, and hopes to continue that hobby throughout her life. Rebecca completed internships at a cutting horse ranch and with Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raiser’s in Ft. Worth. She also earned the Animal Science Excellence in Leadership Award as a college senior. She spent some time after graduating in 2010 working in Equine Reproduction at a Veterinary Hospital in North Texas before she and her fiancé, Robert decided to make Lubbock their permanent home.
Rebecca is confident that she has found a challenging way to make a difference in the agriculture community through staying up to date on current events with the media. She enjoys learning about current farm policy, local farming and livestock, and western heritage. Agriculture is truly what America was built on, and should be promoted and supported as much as possible, along with the hard-working people that make it their life.
