Nicole joined the FOX 34 News team in July 2010, but is no stranger to West Texas. She moved to Lubbock in 2006 to attend Texas Tech.
Raised in Zapata, a small town in South Texas, Nicole was always a very curious child. And to go along with her adventurous personality, her love for writing and story telling flourished in high school. She was president of her school’s yearbook and newspaper staff. That’s when she knew she was destined for a career in journalism.
During her time at Texas Tech Nicole majored in both broadcast journalism and Spanish. She gave campus tours and recruited perspective students as part of Tech’s most prestigious student organization, President’s Select. Nicole was also social chair of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. She anchored and reported for Tech’s MCTV Weekday Update, and worked as an intern at FOX 34’s very own Good Day Lubbock. A die-hard Red Raider, she is proud to say she was voted on to the Homecoming Court two years in a row. She graduated with honors in May 2010.
Nicole is very passionate about devoting time to learning more about her Hispanic roots. She is bilingual and enjoys reading novels in Spanish. One of her fondest memories is studying abroad in Seville, Spain, which she has dubbed her favorite city on Earth.
When she’s not working, Nicole finds herself spending time with loved ones, going out to eat, jogging, spinning, playing golf and simply trying to relax.
