Jaime joined the FOX 34 News team in September 2008 and is thrilled to call West Texas home. You can see her each morning on FOX 34 from 5 to 9 a.m.
Raised in the small town of Columbus, Texas, her passion for telling a good story came early. There's a VHS floating around where you can see an eight-year-old Jaime, wearing her dad's sports coat, "broadcasting" her own news show with a neighbor. She says she can only hope it's in a good hiding spot.
In high school, Jaime was selected to deliver her high school's televised morning news and participated in numerous speech competitions. Those experiences, combined with her love for writing, led her to journalism.
Jaime is a proud University of Texas at Austin graduate where she majored in Broadcast Journalism. While in college, she volunteered at KVR in the sports department, interned at News 8 Austin and FOX 7 News, and dabbled in a little bit of everything from anchoring to photographing for the student news show Texas Newswatch.
One of her most memorable experiences thus far was helping cover the campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton when the Democratic candidates stopped in Austin for a nationwide debate. Right then and there, she knew she was going to love this job.
Jaime says she doesn't know what to do with free time and would rather stay busy 24/7.
More importantly, she wants to deliver news that matters to Lubbockites, and welcomes any story ideas. If you see her around the Hub City, stop and say hi or shoot her an e-mail at jgerik@fox34.com.
