Friday marked World No Tobacco Day which is highlighted each year by the World Health Organization and countless community organizations around the world.

The Voices of the South Plains Community Coalition released 1,200 balloons over Mose Hood Park at Ave. Q and 24th St. It was said to symbolize the 1,200 lives lost to tobacco use and related diseases each year.

The overall theme for this year's World No Tobacco Day is to target youth prevention by banning all tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
