When the recession settled in, more people began to turn to food banks for help with feeding their families. The local food bank has lasting relationships with its clients, some of which still depend on the extra food every month.
South Plains Food Bank Executive Director David Weaver says as families work harder to make ends meet, so does the food bank. Many business, grocery stores, organizations and caring individuals donate to keep the food bank alive. However, with the holiday season approaching, more help is needed. He says anyone interested in lending a helping hand should consider volunteering their time, donating money or donating goods.
