One upcoming event in Slaton makes for a great excuse to tie on a bib and throw on your dancing shoes.

By attending the 4th Annual Cook for the Cure, you will be doing a lot more than finger licking and boot scootin', you will be supporting the American Diabetes Association.

The festivities fire up Aug. 17th with live music starting at noon and all-you-can eat BBQ at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 a piece. A street dance featuring the Danielle Henzler Band begins at 9 p.m. Tickets for the dance are also $10.

For information on entering the BBQ cook-off, contact
Shannon Henzler at 806-548-1156.
