Critical appeal for O- blood continues

Information from United Blood Services

United Blood Services’ critical appeal for O- blood continues. Even with an increased number of donors, the hospital usage continues to outpace the supply. It will take an increased donor flow for quite a few days to remedy the shortage.

All O- donors are encouraged to donate immediately and all blood types are needed.

The requirements for donating are simple:

You must be at least 16 years of age and be in good health.

Go to www.bloodhero.com or call 797-6804 to make an appointment, and then donate at least three times a year.

The Blood Donation Center is located at 48th and University.

Center Hours are:

Monday – 9:00 till 4:30

Tuesday – 12:00 till 7:00

Wednesday – 9:00 till 4:30

Thursday – 12:00 till 7:00

Friday – 9:00 till 4:00

Saturday – 9:00 till 2:00

What is the donor "compensation"? The final user pays a high ransom for each pint. When the producer gets a decent "cut" of the final sale, the supply demand curve will shift, and there will be plenty.
