Outsized growth is putting a squeeze on Frenship's school district. Frenship High School is on its way to reach its capacity, but the school district is calling it a good growth challenge.

"We lost $7.5 million over the next two years thats very tricky when you are a growth district," David Vroonland Frenship Superintendent said. "Keeping the same  budget, while your growing 250 students a year."

However, now the school district is forecasting an overload of high school students in the near future. Vroonland said the growth motivated the district to initiate a game plan.

"The idea was to hit the different configurations, and see how those upon reflection play in Frenship," he said.

Those configurations are based different school districts across the state. Frenship put together a committee made up of around 40 members to visit four different districts.

"From Wylie ISD who built a second high school, to Allen ISD which has a 9th grade center, Lewisville which has 9-10 they are going too," he said. "Then we looked at the new technology high school in Coppell ISD.

Wolfforth City manager, Darrell Newsom, said Frenship's growth means dollar signs and opportunities for the almost 4,000 people who live in Wolfforth.

"A lot of businesses interested in coming out here with a retail format," he said. "Because of the folks that are out here coming and going just to the high school."

Newsom said it wants to put the new school in Wolfforth, rather than an area outside of town.

"Our economic development corporation is spending time and money to promote that idea to show that its not only good for Wolfforth, but a great thing for Frenship," he said.

Frenship will weigh the pros and cons on the four options. The district will educate citizens at two public meetings in December.
