The west Lubbock Sprint Call Center is expanding its services to accommodate the hearing impaired.
The service allows those using a special CapTel phone to hear amplified sound as well as view text captions of conversations.
The captions that appear on the phone allow people with difficulty hearing to continue enjoying telephone access regardless of hearing ability. The expansion is expected to add 70 new jobs.
Approximately 36 million American adults report some degree of hearing loss according to the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders.
