The state's ranking oil and gas politico met with Lubbock’s community and grassroots leaders to discuss the oil, gas and the mining industry in Texas.
Railroad Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman said Texas has the resources to triple or quadruple production in the next 8-10 years. He said this would make us more energy independent and creates great paying jobs.
“So what we want to do is facilitate as many drilling permits as we can,” Smitherman said. “We are making progress. In fact, we are on pace to issuing more drilling permits in 2012 than we have since 1985. The Railroad Commission needs to do its part so the industry can do its part.”
There is an open seat on the three-member Texas Railroad Commission. You can vote early for candidates in both party primaries right now. The primary election day is May 29th.
