Lubbock, Texas - Cabela's Incorporated, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, announced today plans to open a Cabela's Outpost store in Lubbock.
Construction on the 42,000-square-foot loaction is set to begin this fall and the location is expected to open in summer 2014.
The new Cabela's is expected to employ approximately 90 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, and most will come from Lubbock and the surrounding area.
The store will be located in the northwest quadrant of West Loop 289 and 34th Street in a prposed shopping center being developed by Graco Real Estate Development.
"Outdoorsmen and women across the Lone Star State continue to show tremendous support to Cabela's and live our kind of lifestyle, which makes this a natural fit," said Tommy Millner, Cabela's Chief Executive Officer in a news release Wednesday afternoon. "Lubbock is ideally suited for the unique Cabela's Outpost store concept."
Cabela's Outpost stores are generally located in markets of less than 250,000 people. They are designed for efficiency, flexibility and convenience, offering customers the unique Cabela's shopping experience with access to all Cabela's merchandise via online order kiosks and an In-Store Pickup program.
The Lubbock location will feature a rugged, outdoor look and feel, offering a robust selection of gear and seasonal products assortments, as well as museum-quality wildlife displays and an indoor archery range.
Currently, Cabela's operates 44 stores across the United States and Canada, including three in Texas - Fort Worth, Buda and Allen. Additionally, this fall, the company plans to open a 42,000-square-foot Cabela's Outpost store in Waco.
Cabela's has announced plans to open 16 new locations over the next two years. Also today, it announced plans to open locations in Berlin, Mass.; and Cheektowaga, N.Y.
