Albertson's is one step closer to its purchase of United Supermarkets.
Members of the Federal Trade Commission voted unanimously to accept an agreement from Albertson's involving the sale of Albertson's stores in Amarillo and Wichita Falls. Albertson's sold the stores, including all inventory and pharmaceuticals, to Lawrence Brothers based in Sweetwater.
Federal antitrust investigators had been reviewing the proposed Albertson's-United merger to determine whether enough competition would remain in certain markets, if the deal for United goes through.
The agreement is subject to public comment through January 22nd.
