Summer is still a few months away, but Workforce Solutions South Plains is already putting the gears into motion to find summer jobs for youth.
It's partnering with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce to recruit area businesses for the South Plans Youth Job Fair, targeting those ages 16 to 21. Employers will be looking to fill summer jobs and year-round part-time and full-time positions.
Student Jordynn Gutierrez, who found a job through Workforce, said the program encourages those her age to be proactive about finding work.
"They help us out as much as they can," Gutierrez said. "If we need rides and stuff, some of the workers are there to help us. They also help us grow as young individuals. They give us lessons, and we listen to a lot of speakers about public speaking, community service, things like that."
The job fair will be held at the Civic Center on March 14th from 11 a.m. To 3 p.m.
