A glitch at Lubbock Power and Light led to 44,000 customers being under-billed for June 3rd through the 14th.
In November, those customers will be billed for the difference. LP&L reported the average amount under-billed was $55.
For customers owing less than $12 the amount will be applied as a one-time charge on their November bill. Those who owe more can pay off their balance in six monthly installments beginning in November. Customers may also choose to pay the full amount at any time during that six-month window.
"The reason the board decided to assess it over the winter months was so that it would have the least amount of impact on customers as possible since their winter bills will typically be lower," LP&L spokesman Matt Rose said.
Affected customers will a phone call or a letter in the mail this week.
