Everytime you walk into a neighborhood Stripes store until September 15th you have the chance to donate a dollar to a good organization like the 4-H.

And the donation goes to helping todays kids become tomorrow's leaders.

"Well Stripes believes strongly in giving back to the community and what better way to give back to our community than to invest in our kids and our students," Stripes Area Store Manager Jesus Sanchez said. "This helps build leadership skills, it teaches them how to give back to their communities as well through community service. Also it teaches them life skills."

This years event has 570 Stripes stores involved across a three state are including Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Sanchez told us the goal for the Stripes company as a whole is big but the great thing about it, for example, is all the money raised in Lubbock county will stay in Lubbock county.

"so our goal this year is 400,000 dollars within Stripes as a whole," Sanchez said. "That's in three states; Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. The money raised at the stores goes to their local community so it's not dispersed within those three states, but within your community where you donated."

With so much money being raised for the 4-H you might be wondering what it goes to.

Sanchez said the donations go to the 4-H clubs and helps the youth out in many ways.

"The donations you make at Stripes goes to the community for 4-H and 4-H uses that money for seminars, giving back to the community in community service," Sanchez said. "It also goes to scholarships for 4-H, for their students to go to different conferences."

When you walk into the Stripes store there will be a flier on the door and also there will be another flier to be on the lookout for.

"Look for these fliers at your local stripes, you'll be able to put your name on it and it has two coupons, one for a free slush monkey and a buy one get one free of a bag of monkey loco."

Last year the Stripes stores in Lubbock County raised nearly 10,000 dollars for the local 4-H clubs and this year the goal is to double the amount of money raised.
