Stopping for a quick taco can do more than fill your appetite.

The Lubbock Boys and Girls Club announced Wednesday that it would be collaborating with area Taco Bell restaurants to help raise money for the four clubs in Lubbock.

John Camp, franchisee of local Taco Bell and Pizza Hut restaurants, said when customers go to a Taco Bell in Lubbock, they will be encouraged to donate a dollar to the Boys & Girls Club.

Camp said the Boys and Girls Club is the national charity for Taco Bell.

"We just took it upon ourselves locally to start this little campaign," Camp said, "and to get it started and maybe to generate more funds locally."

He said last year the local restaurants were able to raise over $10,000 for the organization, and this year they hope to raise more.

The promotion runs from now until Labor Day.

Proceeds from the project will go towards purchasing new equipment for the clubs.
