The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance is aiming to attract gun makers to Lubbock.

President and CEO John Osborne said staffers are looking into what it would take to get manufacturers upset with new gun control laws in other states to re-locate here.

They're also courting gun companies looking to expand.

Osborne adds Governor Perry's recent recruitment efforts help open doors for Texas cities, like Lubbock, to offer incentives.

"We have also just completed  a marketing trip up to the northeast along with the governor and had an opportunity to sit in front of a number of gun manufacturers," Osborne said, "and had a very, very good conversation, but still it's very early in the process of them trying to identify what they want to do next."

Osborne added there's a lot of competition... since some gun makers have expressed discontent with other states' regulations very publicly.
