Lubbock's Economic Development Alliance was recognized Thursday a the national level for its contributions to skilled workforce development and training initiatives in our region.
LEDA, the sole recipient of the W.O. Lawton Business Leadership award from the National Association of workforce boards. The nomination was submitted by Workforce Solutions South Plains and included kudos for efforts like partnership with the Byron Martin Technology center and a skill development fund grant for South Plains College.
John Osborne, president and CEO of LEDA said "we are so excited. This is actually the first time the National Association of Workforce Board's has put this award together. So not only to receive a national award but to receive the first one, we're just so ecstatic and feel very honored."
The award will be presented in Washington DC on Monday. Representatives of LEDA and Workforce Solutions South Plains will accept the honor.
