If you pay your Atmos Energy bill through an automatic draft, your bank account may have been severely impacted.

Payments withdrawn for about 39,000 customers, including 2,300 in West Texas, were ten times the actual amount of their natural gas bill.

The error was traced to an information technology problem. Atmos reports customers should see the overcharge reversed within the next 24 to 72 hours and the utility will cover overdraft fees or charges resulting from the mistake.

Call Atmos toll free at 1-800-286-6700 with questions. Customer are being provided a direct email which they can use to avoid wait times.
