The landscape will soon be changing for a two-mile stretch of 34th Street. Lubbock City Council members on Thursday awarded the reconstruction project contract to Lone Star Dirt and Paving.
The company's 8.9 million dollar bid covers the rebuild between Indiana Avenue and Avenue Q. Bond money approved by voters in 2009 will be used to replace pavement, install drainage, and revamp curbs, sidewalks and driveway approaches.
The roadwork is expected to begin late next month and go on for an undetermined amount of time.
