Striking Leaf-Embossed Stepping Stones to DIY

Garden Therapy/hometalkTis the season ... when formerly bare trees and gardens are going green again. We at Networx love love love leaves of all sorts, shapes, and sizes (try saying that fast three times). That's why this cool posting on Hometalk caught our eyes -- blogger Stephanie from Garden Therapy crafted her own DIY stepping stones embossed with imprints of luscious leaves.

The project is amazingly simple and inexpensive for something that packs such a creative pow. The first step is the hardest: cement tubes are sliced into even 2" rings. Then comes the fun part, picking large, flat leaves from bushes, plants, or trees. They need to be sturdy so they won't tear.

Fill the cement tube "molds" with concrete before quickly pressing a cooking-spray-coated leaf onto each one. Allow to dry thoroughly and voila! You've got a set of strikingly original leaf-patterned garden stepping stones ... at a cost of under $2 apiece.
