Like the many toys this series has produced the "Transformers" movies feel like they come right off the Hollywood blockbuster production line. But at least this third "Transformers" adventure is more fun than the second. And give director Michael Bay and his writers for coming up with a creative launching point for "Dark of the Moon."
It turns out President Kennedy fast-tracked the moon landing because an alien space ship crash-landed there. And there's a fun cameo from a familiar face verifying the tale.
Despite it's fun moments, though, this is just another loud exercise in boys with toys. And it's actually the longest of the three "Transformers" movies, clocking in at more than two-and-a-half hours. So much time is spent crafting a story I doubt anyone cares about, all building up to a 45 minute robot battle for a climax.
This initial release on DVD and Blu-ray comes with no special features other than the True HD 7.1 sound, bound to rock your house and your neighbor's. Fans might want to wait for the deluxe 3D Blu-ray of "Dark of the Moon" which has been announced, but there's no date scheduled for release yet.
