It's been rough at the movies this summer. The few bright spots - "Thor," "Bridesmaids," "X-Men First Class," "Super 8" - have been mostly marred by mediocre and flat-out bad movies.

I hated "The Hangover part II" but I was mostly just indifferent to "Pirates 4," "Green Lantern," "Cars 2," "Bad Teacher," and "Transformers 3" (although I'll admit I liked the 3D a lot more than I thought I would in Michael Bay's movie.)

The last couple weeks, though, have seen some good ones.

I really enjoyed "Horrible Bosses" - a dirty, dark comedy with a ton of grim laughs. I also thought "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part II" was one of the best in the series, and easily one of the best movies of the year thus far.

Over my vacation I plan on seeing "Captain America: The First Avenger" as quickly as possible. Reviews are positive right now on Rotten Tomatoes. "Friends with Benefits" with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis also seems to be well-liked, which is frankly a bit of a surprise to me.

I've been looking forward to "Cowboys and Aliens" for the better part of the year. Indiana Jones and James Bond in the Old West fighting monsters from outer space? Sounds fun to me.

I can't get excited about "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" or "The Smurfs," although I'm sure the latter will make a ton of money.

"Crazy, Stupid, Love" with Steve Carrell in his first movie since leaving "The Office" looks like it could be something special. And let's speed "30 Minutes or Less" to screens ASAP. That comedy with Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride looks like a scream.

So what are you looking forward to the rest of the summer at the movies? And which ones have you loved or hated so far?
