This morning I looked at the listing of movies showing in Lubbock theaters. At one theater, I've seen one of the movies playing; at the other, I've seen two. Look, I've been really busy lately - it's not an excuse, it's a reason.
But that also means I'm way behind and movies are rotating out faster with so many releases demanding screens. For example, "Red Tails" came out January 20, and it's already gone. I missed it, and I was looking forward to it. I barely got in to see "The Iron Lady" before it left, too.
We've been getting about three to four movies opening every week for the last month or so, which is great for audiences looking for variety. It bugs me to death when one new releases takes up eight screens in Lubbock. But I also hate being asked if I've seen something, and I haven't.
So here are the ones on my immediate to-see list:
1. "Safe House"
2. "The Vow"
3. "This Means War"
4. "Chronicle"
5. "Deep in the Heart"
I've decided I'm going to have to let "Man on a Ledge" and "Two for the Money" off the hook, and I doubt I'll work in Daniel Radcliffe in "The Woman in Black," either.
So you tell me, folks - what are the best movies out there right now?
