Raider Red Meats third annual cookoff at Texas Tech

It's going to be a battle of the best cooks in the area Saturday at the third annual Raider Red Meats and First United Mortgage BBQ cook off on the Texas Tech campus. 
Dozens of cook teams are expected to make it out for the event and Bradley Price, the director of Raider Red Meats said that it is going to be a good time for a good cause this weekend.
 
"Our vision is to have the largest paying barbecue cook off in the country to service and cater to the cooks. With that being said I hope we bring in an attendance large enough that we can be able to put some money into the Raider Red Meats endowment fund for our students here in Animal & Food Sciences," Price said. "So the overall goal is to support the students here, but for the ones we're not supporting today with that endowment those students can come out and participate as a cook team or they can come out and help us cater to the cooks that are here. So it's just a great fun fellowship event that we can engage our students to help themselves all that's possible."

Although the cooking starts Saturday, check in and setup begins later Friday at noon with the head cooks meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the hospitality tent.
Then on Saturday the judging begins with beans at 11:00 a.m., chicken at 12:00 p.m., ribs at 1:00 p.m., and brisket at 3:00 p.m.
Awards will be given out at 5:00 p.m. at the hospitality tent.
Entry fee is $125 per team and that covers all categories. The registration form and additional information can be found at www.raiderredmeats.com .
