If counter cyclical and direct payments are of importance to any producers out there, farmers have the weekend to complete some last minute paperwork to turn in to the Farm Service Agency. But Eddie Griffis says you better get it turned in quickly.
"USDA and Farm Service Agency is reminding everyone that the deadline is fastly approaching for signups for counter cyclical and direct payments. If you have not done so, producers who have either not yet enrolled in DCP or have not yet signed their DCP contracts, must do so by the close of business Monday, September 16, 2013," Griffis said. "Again if you have any questions about this you need to call your local FSA office and try to make an appointment to get in there and do that. Contracts filed after this date will be elevated from the county office to the state office and will require state committee action. So remember September 16 if you have not gone in and signed up for DCP or counter cyclical payments."
