Congressman Randy Neugebauer visited the town of Wilson and piloted the symbolic green and yellow John Deere on part of the tractor's 1,000 mile journey across Texas. The AgTexas tractor drive got started right here in Lubbock the middle of August. Congressman Neugebauer said that the tractor drive is a great opportunity to raise awareness about an often overlooked problem in rural America.

"Hunger is an issue, it's a global issue, but unfortunately it's still an issue in our country," Neugebauer said. "And this is America where we have the best and cheapest food in the world, but unfortunately not everybody is able to access that. One of the great things about the people in Texas and West Texas is that they are always offering a helping hand. And so this drive is a great example of how people in West Texas are stepping up. These are the people that produce food and fiber for our country, so not only are they producing it, but also they're making sure that everybody gets to share in it."

Texas FFA chapters are also joining the cause to help drive hunger out of rural Texas. Be sure to keep up with our ag events calendar to learn more about the next tractor drive fundraising events.
