Although a bipartisan proposal fell short in talks with the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction, also known as the Super Committee, Stabenow indicated the proposal and public feedback provide a foundation for continued Farm Bill discussions.
The House and Senate Agriculture Committees' proposal consolidates 23 programs into 13 programs under five primary principles. These principles include: working land programs; regional partnerships for soil, water and wildlife stewardship; easements; the conservation reserve program; and grazing, small watershed and public access programs.
