Many Americans who receive SNAP benefits will begin seeing a decrease starting today. Meanwhile, Congress struggles to come up with a new farm bill before the January 1 dairy cliff occurs.

With farm policy covering everything from nutrition to crop insurance and commodities, it is important for people to be informed on the issue. This week's FiberMax Ag Student of the Week Tamra Kott is making it her goal to help teach as many people as she can about agriculture and how all of us rely on the industry daily.

"Well, I got into the livestock ambassadors because I'm really passionate about agriculture," Kott said. "And I really love teaching people that might not know as much about agriculture, and just teaching them that it's fun and how important it is in our world."

If you know of a 4-H or FFA member who is equally as passionate about agriculture, please nominate them as our next FiberMax Ag Student of the Week by emailing us at
