ArmTech insurance services are expanding its mobile applications to offer crop insurance quoting and claims submissions. Jake Rinehart, software manager at ArmTech, said this was a long time coming.
"About 18 months ago, we set out to try to make information more accessible to the producers and try to leverage the smart phone boom," Rinehart said. "We designed the ArmTech app, and it is the first one in the crop insurance industry."
ArmTech, a leading provider of U.S. government sponsored multi-peril crop insurance, has always put a strong emphasis on its mobile capabilities.
"It is our belief that if producers are informed that it can help foster the relationship between them and their agents," Rinehart said. "They can work together to manage the risk."
Rinehart said farmers are responding well to these new advances in farming technology.
"We have gotten hundreds of downloads a week," Rinehart said. "We have thousands of them in the field, and we have seen a lot of good responses."
The app is free to download whether you are an ArmTech customer or not. If you do use ArmTech insurance, your login and password will grant access to more in depth information. The most convenient feature is the ability to report claims anywhere and at anytime.
"If an event happens and they want to report it right then, they can and it will go to an adjuster," Rinehart said. "It eliminates delay, and your incident will not slip through the cracks."
In addition to smart phones, these apps can also be accessed through your tablets.
