Early voting continues through this Friday and local corn producers are supporting one very important constitutional amendment included on the ballot. Our Eddie Griffis fills us in on the details of Proposition 6 and why it's important to Texas residents.
"Texas corn farmers support Proposition 6," Eddie Griffis said. "Passage of Proposition 6 on November 6 state wide ballot is vital to the state's future population growth according to the Corn Producers Association of Texas. Proposition 6 is a constitutional amendment approved by the Texas Legislature earlier this year that will use $2 billion in the state's rainy day fund to provide low interest loans to help finance projects in the state water plan for the next 50 years. If voters approve the constitutional amendment, the $2 billion will be placed in a revolving loan account administered by the state and loaned out to cities, river authorities, ground water districts, and other entities to finance water projects and conservation projects. Again, water a major issue across the state of Texas. Texas corn farmers are supporting proposition 6 to ensure that we have water across the state of Texas over the years to come."
