Commodity insurance just as important to livestock producers as crop producers. Our Eddie Griffis reminding landowners of an important deadline to help them make sure their range and grasslands are protected.
"The deadline is approaching for pasture, range, and forage insurance," Eddie Griffis said. "If you've been taking pasture, range, and forage insurance, you have until November 15 to get that done. It works off of a grid system and it was a pilot program about 4 years ago in this area, but now you can take it with RMA. So if you have range lands out there or grass or forages that you would like to insure, you need to get that done again by November 15. The policy benefited many cattle producers around the panhandle in 2011 and 2012 due to the low rainfall conditions. Again, since this is done on a grid system, it's done on a month by month basis, that's how it's paid. Ask you insurance agent about it. Again you have until November 15 to do that."
